Crochet collar dress

crochet collar dress

I came across something like this on another blog, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in my bookmarks. Anyway, the idea was similar but she didn’t have a pattern because she just made it up as she went along, and so I just tried doing the same thing!

It is basically a lattice pattern finished with a scalloped edge, and I just used some leftover wool from the blue crochet bag I made earlier.

For the dress portion, I traced out the shape from one of her A-line dresses, but cut it wider so that I could create gathers. I think the bottom is still a bit plain though, still wondering if I should do a crochet edge or jazz it up with ribbons?

Buttons at the back.

It’s really hard to get a 7 year old to sit still.

It’s really not difficult! I learnt it entirely from youtube. Check out Crochet Geek’s youtube channel. Her instructions are clear and she has alot of video tutorials for all kinds of projects. You will get addicted very soon!

Hi Karen, I kind of made it up! I should have written down the instructions but I didn’t and now I can’t even remember how I did it. I think the first round near the top of the neck was a chain of half double crochet. Watch this video from Crochet Geek. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgC9s2DhcJY) The next few rounds was just simple single chain loops that are attached to the first round of hdc at regular intervals, then the next few rounds (depending on how wide you want the yoke to be, will involve more loops, attached to the middle of the loops of the previous rounds to create a “web”, the last round was a scallop border (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stZ8_D6oLfw) .Sorry for not having the actual instructions. Hope this helps!

Yes I handstitched it. It’s rather delicate though, so I would recommend a hand washing the garment after you attach it.
