Purple Linen Dress

I have been trying to find a cheaper source of linen after making a linen shirt for myself. Spotlight usually sells it at almost $30 per m!!! The dress I wanted to make needed about 1.5m which meant $45 before I have even started work on it. Luckily, while rummaging through the bargain section, I read more »

The dress that got stuck in my head

This is a true story of an obsession with a dress. A picture of a dress I saw at Shelley’s house while browsing through her Japanese sewing books, I couldn’t remember where and when but the picture of the dress was stuck in my head. I didn’t even know which book or where to begin read more »

Chinese New Year Dresses

Every Chinese New Year, I go into a sewing frenzy. I used to sew new cushion covers, new curtains for my kitchen, and of course, new dresses for the kids. It’s a Chinese tradition to wear new clothes on the first day of the new year to signify a new  beginning, but many of us read more »

Quilted cushion cover part 2!

This morning, R asked. “So where is MY cushion?” Oops… not done yet. Better get it done soon. I didn’t have any quilt batting, so I used some pink flannel for the left and blue fleece for the right. The color comes through abit but I think it’s alright, gives both cushions a subtle difference read more »

Quilted cushion cover using Sarah Jane’s fabrics

These came in the mail yesterday.   Hidden in the pile was a fabric that I’ve been dying to get my hands on. The only bit I could grab was from this fat quarter bundle.   I was thinking of using it as a feature panel on the front of a little bag/backpack for the read more »

Josie dress in Heather Bailey fabric

This was the other dress I made. It was a size M but I realized that the sizes run big, despite following the given measurements, I should have made one size smaller. Now even after taking out 5cm from the back the bodice is still loose, so I will have to take in the sides read more »
